(EN/ES)

Xiri Tara Noir is an independent activist, performance artist and choreographer currently based between Brussels and Barcelona.

She holds a MA in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid and a Post-MA in Advanced Performance and Scenography Research Studies from a.pass in Brussels.

As a performing artist and researcher, recently, the main interest and artistic concern in her practice have been to try to break the limits that separates the academic research from our everyday gestures and practices. Her intention is to motivate the audience (viewer, reader, citizen) to actively participate and thus explore the boundaries and hierarchies between “artist” and “audience”, between observing and participating in an event, and in that way propose an artistic platform for dialogue and exchange on the roles of the “director” and the “spectator” in society.

In her choreographic practice she is exploring and questioning the possibilities within a variation and exchange of social roles, and she find her inspiration in re-discovering the movements and histories which already exist and live in the people, communities, spaces and environments that surrounds us.
